Protein Supplements
One
of the biggest discussions when people work out is whether they should have a
protein supplement or prepare a healthy meal. Both are useful and will help you
reach your goals, it’s when you eat/drink them what makes the difference. Protein
supplements have always been criticized from those who have not read the pros
of what they offer, and we are going to explain on this post the benefits of
them.
Protein powders come in different
forms: whey, soy and casein protein. Whey protein is the most commonly used due
to its facility to dissolve in water, the amount of protein and less fat that
offers.
When you work out at the gym of your
town you usually see all these people shaking their bottles with powder protein
on them after their workouts and you ask yourself why do not they eat regular
proteins when they get home. The answer to this typical thoughts is the
convenience of drinking the protein your body needs after a regular workout. As
mentioned above, it is a quick supply of protein that you can prepare as you
are walking out of the gym and drink it on-the-go.
Solid food, regular meal, takes a
lot of time to digest and to send the proteins to the muscles which on the
other hand, protein shakes are digested faster, it only takes 30 minutes to
reach the muscles, and it’s important after your workout when your rates of
glycogen re-synthesis and protein synthesis are increased.
What most nutritionist and personal
trainers recommend is to not substitute the protein shake for a regular meal
because your body also needs fats, vitamins and more nutrients found in meat,
fish, eggs, etc. Protein supplements are the perfect complement for healthy
diets.
